Konrad Heilmann

47 years, 30 dedicated to Hang Gliding, certified rang 5 Master Pilot, 2015 Cross Country FAI World Champion WXC 2015, Brazilian Advanced Champion 2001, currently 13th place overall in the Brazilian Ranking, South American speed and distance over triangular course record holder, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo state hang gliding distance state open distance record holder, represented Brazil in several international competitions from the early 90's to present, part of Brazilian team in Ager Spain 1994, Monte Cucco Italy 2010 and 2013 Hang Gliding Worlds in Forbes Australia, Tolmezzo Italy 2018. Two times Winner of Wings Over Wellington, NSW, Australia, 2014 & 2015 editions. In 2015 alone, took part of 8 international hang gliding competitions in Australia, USA and Brazil, consistently placing podium or top ten positions.

Travels constantly for Hang Gliding competitions or expeditions.

• In 1997 accomplished a 25.000km hang gliding expedition from Rio to the Caribbean.
• In 1999 Sailed across the Atlantic on a Sailboat
• In 2013 did a 21.000km motorcycle expedition across Eurasia, from Shanghai, China to Lisbon, Portugal.
• Among Hang Gliding, also practices Cycling, Surf, Kitesurf and snowboarding.
• Besides Potuguese he also speaks English, German and Spanish

About Rio Hang Gliding on the Road

Rio Hang Gliding has been offering Hang Gliding and Paragliding tandem flights in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil operating in the Worlds largest Hang Gliding center since 2000 it's Konrad Heilmann is very passionate about the sport of Hang Gliding and very excited about sharing the amazing experience of free flying with Rio de Janeiro visitors from all over the globe.

The Rio Hang Gliding on the Road project was born during the summer of 2018. while touring Europe for the competition Konrad decided it was the time to put forward the project he had long been thinking off, taking the experience of Hang Gliding beyond Rio de Janeiro by bringing Rio Hang Gliding overseas. The first stop is Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands in Spain. With over 6 different quality flying sites this small Island of ancient Volcanos in the middle of the Atlantic ocean is an excellent place to experience the freedom of flying free like a bird.
